On the wall of my dining room I have a mounted copy of the front cover of Monmouth (NJ) Magazine from June of 1977. The picture on the cover is a large one of my parents. The caption is "Festival Founders"; the accompanying article was about the Middletown Folk Festival my parents produced for 18 years. My mother's hair is long and she is playing the autoharp. My father's beard is dark and he is playing the concertina. My friends refer to this as my parents' "A Mighty Wind" picture -- a reference to the wonderful film of that name.
Last weekend my parents attended some sort of folk music event in the DC area. My sister-in-law sent me two pictures she took there. It's the same basic image, three decades later.
